The past two decades in Hungary have seen great interest in the game of golf and the region surrounding Budapest is no exception to this. A number of popular golf courses can be found less than 30 km / 19 miles from Budapest, around a 40-minute drive from the city centre. Budapest's golfing season tends to run from March until November, finishing just before the coldest winter weather arrives.

Budai Golf Club is especially popular and is a short six-hole, par-20 course, comprising a number of good facilities, including a driving range, and practice areas for both chipping and putting. Close to the M1 highway and also within easy reach of both Stockholm and Vienna, the Old Lake Golf and Country Club has become known for its beautiful scenery and large lakes, creating a series of pleasing water hazards. A four-star hotel is onsite and offers golfing packages, coming complete with tennis courts, swimming pool and restaurant.




One of Hungary's most impressive courses can be found at the Pannonia Golf and Country Club in the neighbouring town of Mariavolgy, just over 35 minutes from Budapest, where both professionals and amateurs are well catered for.
